CMRR Project Phases:

Radiological Laboratory/Utility/Office Building (RLUOB)

The RLUOB is currently under construction with a projected completion date of 2009.  The Special Facilities Equipment (SFE) portion of the RLUOB is in the final design phase. The radiological laboratory space (<8.4 g Pu239 equivalent) in the RLUOB will be approximately 19,500 net square feet.  The design basis of the facility is to have the capability of 26 laboratory modules (12 ½ x 60 ft), each equipped with services to function as flexible, modular, individual units.  Four laboratories (9 modules) will be outfitted with SFE. 

The RLUOB glovebox fabrication contract will comprise 19 open front boxes:

• 1x1 Open Front Box  - 13  
• 1x2 Open Front Box  - 3  
• 1x3 Open Front Box  - 3  

The RLUOB glovebox fabrication contract will comprise 7 gloveboxes:

• 1x2 Glovebox – 1 
• 1x3 Glovebox – 6

All open front boxes and gloveboxes will require a surface treatment (coating) to improve the corrosion resistance of the enclosures.  Ethylene-Chlorotrifluoroethylene (ECTFE) has been identified as the suitable coating material.

Push-through gloveports are part of the CMRR design for enclosures. The RLUOB fabrication contract will encompass a total of 136 push-through gloveports.   

Double-door transfer systems (DDTSs) for sample transfer are part of the CMRR design for enclosures.  The RLUOB fabrication contract will encompass a total of 9 push-through DDTSs.
